Two cases of plexiform neurofibromatosis of face, underwent surgical excision of the tumour with staged reconstruction

Apart from diagnosis and symptomatic medications, surgical corrections for these problems are seldom attempted either due to lack of resources, difficult surgical exercise due to massive blood loss, incomplete removal and complex post excisional deformity which is difficult to reconstruction. Surgical corrections are always in stages and tailored made as per patient needs.

Till date we have been treating around 7-8 such Plexiform neurofibromatosis patients which is a big number , thanks to various crowd funding platforms.  Most of them have undergone 1-2 sstagesbof excision and readjustments of local tissues for better cosmetic outcome and they are in the follow up for next stages of surgery and reconstruction.

Parallely we are also doing genetic mapping, histopathological differences as each lesion behaves differently in its appearance, vascularity and involvement of structures, pressure effects and thereby ease of surgical removal.  After completion of a sizable number of patients we are planning to come with surgical and reconstructional algorithm as such isnnot available in literature till date.
